Small apartment for a teacher
The apartment, located in Taormina, is a space of about 38 m2 with a panoramic view of the Etna mount and the bay of Giardini Naxos.
The internal distribution has been designed to obtain, in these small dimensions, both open spaces and private and intimate areas, by the proper use of natural light.
The central entrance directly leads the view to the landscape and at the same time divides the areas defining the sleeping area and the bathroom, whose volume hides the view of the kitchen.
The sleeping area, slightly raised compared to the rest of the apartment, is delimited by two double sided closets (oak and white lacquered parts) which, defining the entrance and the living, produce visual and luminous filters for privacy.
The "box" concept of the sleeping area shows different spatial orders; the partition closets were ideated thinking about the double altitude of the apartment, and designed with two different heights, the lower one related to the living and the higher one referring to the sleeping area.
The suggestive landscape is framed by the large window of the living area.
L'appartamento, situato a Taormina, è un unico ambiente di circa 38 m2 aperto alla vista dell'Etna e della baia di Giardini Naxos.
La distribuzione interna è stata pensata per ottenere, in queste piccole dimensioni, sia spazi che permettano di distribuire la luce naturale creando una sensazione di apertura e spazialità, sia zone intime e private. L’ingresso centrale, consente di dirigere immediatamente lo sguardo sul paesaggio e contemporaneamente distribuisce gli ambienti definendo la zona notte e il bagno, il cui volume cela la vista dell’angolo cottura.
La zona notte, leggermente sollevata rispetto al resto degli ambienti è definita da pareti-contenitore (armadi bifacciali in rovere e parti laccate) che, definendo da un lato l’ingresso e dall’altro la zona giorno, la contengono, creando filtri visivi e luminosi per la privacy.
La "scatola" della zona notte presenta differenti spazialità, le pareti-contenitore sono progettate pensando alle due differenti quote, quella più bassa della zona giorno e quella più alta della zona notte.
La zona giorno, infine è definita dalla grande apertura che incornicia il suggestivo paesaggio.
