6P6 Technology Store | Michael Bakas

The Golden Ratio SA undertakes the consolidation and renovation of two separate sites within a gallery in Athens and converts them into a technology store. 

In a shell space with restrictions and principles the functional diagram of the company was developed. Unifying elements of the previously two stores are the mirrors mounted on the ceilings and the staircase. They direct the gaze of passersby’s and visitors respectively at all levels of the shops. The two shops, a ground floor and first floor, now become a single space module with individual subsections: mobile devices  and their accessories on the ground floor, gaming and gadgets on the first floor. The ground floor hosts exhibition of products, while the first floor creates a comfortable and familiar space for gaming testing. These are areas with panels and stucco decorations on the ceilings, where the exhibition of modern technology products is in itself a challenge. 

In an off-white environment, furniture, either in a horizontal or vertical direction, displays the unique finish of products that are sold. The construction of the stairs in minimal white tones with orange steps gives a sculptural dimension to the space, creating a focal meeting point at the staircase landing in the center of the store. The ground floor ceiling is dominated by the three-dimensional prismatic structure of the mirror, which projects multiple images of the store, creating "fragments" of space and dimensional detail, bringing the visitor into a live virtual reality. 

Old and new, classic and innovative, timeless values and modern technology become one, creating a unique space in the center of Athens.
