Redfern Terrace
Sydney / Australia / 2016
Focusing on texture and a simplicity of detail, the design brief for this terrace was to create a sense of calmness. The existing footprint and original decorative detailing of the house was retained and restored and new steel framed windows inserted into the existing openings which brings natural light from the west and north into the living areas.
A three dimensional quality was considered for all of the finishes and furniture, which include a ribbed timber and a selection of marbles and flamed finished granite all with an underling shade of blue or grey. The kitchen storage continues into the dining space to form a generous kitchen as well as the sense of a separate dining space in a reasonably small floor plan.
The simple detailing and focus on texture continues into the living and bedroom spaces. Redfern Terrace was designed by Kirsten Stanisich, director SJB Interiors.
