The investor, a young lawyer lives in a row house from 70’s in Sopot. He decided to rebuild the not used attic to His main bedroom. He ordered project in our studio Raca Architekci.

Reconstruction began with a change in the geometry of the roof to make more space inside the new bedroom. During the roofing work, inspired by boarding, together with the investor we made a decision to lay all the ceiling with a natural wood. It was our main idea of this interior.

All ceiling and floor were covered with multilayer oiled oak planks in natural color. It was a huge challenge, because geometry of the roof is complicated and wood had to be cut at the corners at different angles. We compiled beautifully exposed wood roof with the typical elements of man's cave style.

We added a simple, modern furniture in black and gray colors. In one of the dormers we designed reading corner with comfortable chair designed by Hans J. Wegner, beautiful Zuiver floor lamp and dark gray bookshelves in the recess. In the second dormer we designed a work area with a simple veneered black desk by Hay and swivel chair design by R & Ch Eames. In corner we put a modular sofa, used to a comfortable watching movies from computer.

It was impossible to design a standard wardrobe because of the geometry of the roof. We decided to design cabinet at back wall opposite the entrance. Cabinet fronts are made of high gloss dark gray lacquer finish, which is not only great contrast with the wood, but also because of the reflection It is optically enlarges the space of the attic.

In addition to the standard space for clothes it was also designed a pull-out, full-length mirror. Between the closets we designed space for upholstered black bed of Desiree Divani. The sides of the cabinets, wall and headrest are made of matt black lacquer finish.

On the other side of the room is a staircase. To optically enlarge attic we decided to do the glass wall and large glass sliding doors between staircase and attic. Glass and stainless, brushed steel fittings adds more modern character.

The spectacular lighting Completes this interior. The main lights are a frameless, black halogen spotlights whith adjustable beam made by Chors. However, the most impressive are hanging glass balls of Penta: The black one is in a recess above the bed and the second one in the color of pink gold is in the staircase.
