One-of-a-kind, upscale restaurant brings lobster and artisan cocktails to the downtown core. Located in the heart of the financial district at 100 Yonge Street, lbs. (pronounced pounds), provides an impressive atmosphere highlighted by Italian marble, custom brass lighting, and a mirrored feature wall.

Finely balancing a luxurious and stylish interior with an approachable menu, lbs. provides three core dishes harkening back to the letters of the restaurant name; lobster, burger, and salad. lbs.’ competitive prices do away with the typical Toronto ‘market price’ lobster offerings, lbs. sources their product direct from the Nova Scotia pounds.

The restaurant’s interior, designed by local firm Pencil, is refreshingly polished and accented with subtle nautical details. Upon entry, you are greeted with impressively impactful paintings. The first by famed Aboriginal Canadian artist Norval Morrisseau, and the other by Whitney Bedford depicting a rousing shipwreck. The upscale atmosphere immediately conveys an elegant ambiance. The horseshoe-shaped, 32-seat bar is the focal point, lit along one side by geometric, pulley-like light fixtures.

The dining room adds warmth to the marble tables with teal leather banquets and oak accents. The banquets are complimented by burnt orange and grey leather upholstered dining chairs. Floating buoy-shaped lights are staggered overhead to create an intimate dining experience.

To further drive home the transparent menu pricing, the lbs. kitchen is separated only by glass. This puts the chic industrial, tiled interior on display from any angle. Housed in the corner of the kitchen is the substantial lobster tank, which holds up to 2,000 lbs. of live lobster supply at any given time.

The street-facing lounge offers plenty of natural light with a busy stream of pedestrian traffic. The floor to ceiling glass wine cellar showcases a tremendous supply of Krug, highlighting the restaurant’s partnership with the exclusive champagne producer. The distinctly playful bathroom walls are decorated with custom lobster claw and flower wallpaper offset with colourful, geometric tile floors.

Every detail, including the restaurant’s atrium patio and convenient takeout window, are attributable to the owner’s dedication and passion to providing an elegant environment and seafood dining experience with confirmation to their catchy slogan ‘worth the weight’.
