Traffic  solution Stjepan Radic Square

This project eliminates the traffic  character of Sjepan Radić Square as requested on the documentation which obtained the first prize in a public tender for the project in the area. ( “Vehicular traffic on the Square S. Radic, treated as a "necessary evil”...”).

The surface of the  Square is partly intended for the  controlled vehicular traffic in the area designated for the road along the line of the market, which continues on the street Ivana Skomerže.

Roads are treated as an "intruder" on the surface of the market with the aim to slow down the traffic that crosses the main square. The surface  and space of the newly formed road on this part are treated primarily as a market, not a road and on the similar way her section, parter and lighting are treated.

Partly it became an attraction in the area because it was projected as a  cross section of continuous wave with a height difference of 20 cm with speed bumps.  On this road, a one way traffic is organized with the prescribed speed of 5m/h and is bordered on both sides  with  standard elements in order to alert pedestrians about motorized transport.

The illumination of Stjepan Radic square

Lighting concept, is based on energy efficiency, in particular making sure that does not result in light pollution. While  developing the concept, primarily the concept was led by the idea to place the emphasis on the illumination and the very essence of light, not pointing in the same lamp, while highlighting the natural contrasts of the materials themselves and the environment. Lighting of the square consists of primary and ambient lighting. Basic lighting ie. Lighting poles are placed along the edge of the square, within the area of terrace with high plantations and along the promenade by the house and parking in the street Ivana Skomerže. Lighting poles  are 6m tall, with the exception of the lighting poles to existing homes, which are lower in height with  5m.

Basic Lighting on Stjepan Radic Square was solved with LED urban lighting on taper steel, galvanized light poles with the height H = 6m,  made to sustain winds from zone 3, painted with protective anthracite color. LED lamps have the efficiency 80.72 lm / W (A40, ↓ 100.0%, ↑ 0.0%),with  housing of cast aluminum and ribbed top cover lamp has a function of a cooler which reduces the temperature. below 50 ° (Ta = 25 °). Final electrostatic painting polyester resin color anthracite, is resistant to corrosion and saline environments. The lamp has a modular optical system, metalized with  V0 polycarbonate, micro-facetted to reduce the direct glare. The diffuser of  the lamp is made of tempered glass with a  thickness of 4mm, thermal shock and impact resistant, according to EN 12150-1: 2005. Light source Rebel Es 36LED, 700mA, OEF lamps = 6587m, 3000K, R 80, Lifetime B20L80 (Ta = 25 °)> 50,000 hours. Standard electronic ballast with CLD CTL 0-100% control 1-10V according to IEC60929. Total power system of a lamp is 81,6W. Safety diodes for overvoltage protection. Equipped with anti-condensation valve mechanical protection with IP67, and double-insulated circuit breaker for service. The system for control of overheating with automatic damping.  Mechanical protection of the lamp is  IP66 IK08, in accordance with EN 60529: 2000 / A1: 2008 standard.  Adjustable range from 0 ° -10 °. Inclination: 10 degrees.

Ambient lighting is resolved in several ways and it defines everything that is not illuminated by the main light, ie. electric poles. Benches are illuminated by indirect LED lighting under the surface for sitting. The zone of vegetation is illuminated with floodlights in the floor that gently illuminate the trees, with a limited installed capacity to function lighting, in order to limit unwanted light pollution.

In addition, info points are also illuminated with built-in floor lamp, limited with  installed capacity. Lighting is controlled by a central control system, ie, turns on or off  based on the regimes which will be  determined by the city administration.

Road which goes through  Stjepan Radic Square, is illuminated  from the side, with the rhythm of bright lighting that follows the undulating longitudinal section. Along the coastal wall lighting fixtures are installed that illuminate the sea. Road is illuminated to the extent of  S5 class for a particular situation D4 to HRI CEN / TR 13201-1: 2009, and according to EN 13201-2: 2008, resp. for motor traffic, cyclists, slow vehicles and pedestrians with a speed of 5-30 km / h. These are local and secondary suburban streets, zones of  5-30 km / h streets (usually without  footpaths), with the presence of physical measures designed to calm traffic, without any vehicles parked, with  normal management tasks, with high traffic of pedestrians and cyclists and a low level of brightness environment.

For the defined scope of the S5, the following conditions are set: Medium horizontal illumination Em = 3LX, minimum Emin = 0.6 lx. Uniformity of lighting will be resolved with  continuous linear regulation of luminous flux of lamps S1 and S1.1.

Illumination of street Ivana Skomerže

Situation of  lighting to HRI CEN / TR 13201-1: 2009, and according to EN 13201-2: 2008, class D3, 5-30 km / h, motor traffic, cyclists, other allowed users slow vehicles and pedestrians, and these are local and secondary suburban streets, zones of 30 km / h street (usually a walking path). Street lighting is defined based on required  S3 for a particular situation D3

- parked vehicles are present
- Difficulty of  management tasks - Normal
- Intermediate ambient  of brightness
- High traffic flow of pedestrians and cyclists

For the defined scope S3, the following conditions are set: Medium horizontal illumination Em = 7,5lx, minimum Emin = 1,5lx

Calculation results: Horizontal Luminance E

Average: 31 lux (S3 min. 7.5)

Minimum: 4.18 lx (S3 min. 1.5)

High / Medium: 12:59

NOTE: Lamps have the option of linear regulation of luminous flux, technology 1-10V according to IEC60929, and illumination will be adjusted to the needs of the road class, and according to regime of ignition, which will be decided  by the city administration.

Central lighting management system

Complete lighting is controlled by the central control system based on KNX protocol, complete with all components necessary for full functionality, and the control panel and the possibility of calling up to 20 lighting scenes. Continuous linear regulation of urban road LED lighting technology 1-10V according to IEC60929 and relay management of lighting groups via 12 digital signals. Lighting is controlled automatically by a light switch and a time clock, and control panel. Scenes are created due to the events on the square, the frequency of events and seasonal needs, ie. regimes of ignition which will be determined by a regulation of the city administration.
