High up on a street corner stands a residential property overlooking surrounding rooftops and a captivating view.

I chose to place the main entrance to the house on the quieter street side, on the vantage point providing the view, thus also orienting most functional areas to that direction.

This unusual design approach produces a clear line beginning at the gate and leading all the way to the entrance, a long walkway that shows the garden to the right, the swimming pool and several outdoor seating areas.

The path is covered by arches, and is tracked by falling waterways with plants and goldfish.

The exterior has been classically and traditionally designed, reminiscent of detached houses around the globe, but the interior is completely modern. The floors are laid with huge 1/3-meter concrete tiles, and kitchen and furnishing are contemporary, highlighted with bold lighting fixtures.

The basement floor is divided into a guest area (bedrooms and bathrooms), with a large additional play area and home cinema. The floor also provides a state-of-the-art kitchenette, bar and serving area, and a fascinating wine cellar with glass-paned cabinets for viewing.

The entrance is planned with a double-height ceiling with a modern chandelier hanging at its center, and a guest bathroom and cloakroom.

To the right, the entrance opens to a dining area with a long dining table and spacious living room. One broad wall is completely covered in darkly tinted glass, containing a large cupboard and a concealed 60-inch flat screen TV.

Straight ahead the entrance leads to a staircase, and at its side is a hidden entrance to the elevator. To the left there is a family room and large modern kitchen, with a central island and dining table for daily use. The family room, with another TV, leads out to its own yard. There is a second exit leading to a bedroom with its own bathroom and closet for close relatives when they visit.

The upper floor holds five bedrooms and a central TV area, and leads out to a large porch overlooking the garden, pool, and surroundings. Turning left from the staircase, you find the master suite, and to the right are four children's bedrooms, each with their own bathrooms.

The children's rooms all have slanted wood ceilings, and individually designed to the character of each child.

The master suite is spacious with several distinctive features, such a white-washed wood pyramid upper structure, a long and open-planned wardrobe along its side, an innovative en suite bathroom, and a lovely private porch to sip the evening air while gazing into the view…
