The architectural concept of this Marmann Bau show house in Erfurt is an interconnected structure featuring cubes in a staggered lay out. Spacious, open living areas are combined with extensive patios. The garage is only connected to the house by the floor above. This storey juts out 1m 50 to the front without visible supports, and the top floor protrudes yet another 1m 50 outwards. Michael Marmann explains, “We have highlighted the middle, connecting cube’s facade in ALUCOBOND® Spectra Ocean which appears to be dark blue or turquoise depending on the viewing angle.” There is barely any heat loss, thanks to a 20 cm-thick composite thermal insulation system or mineral wool insulation behind the ALUCOBOND® façade and triple glazing with solar control coated glass. An unusual highlight is found in the interior: part of the living space is occupied by a koi fishpond. The 100 m² ground floor with its living and eating area, kitchen and pond is completely open plan. Fair-faced concrete harmonizes with white furniture and light-coloured Laminam flooring with a metallic sheen. Blue is used recurrently to accentuate features – the illuminated rear wall at the bar, wall paintings or teardrop-shaped lights over the coffee table. The interior displays an impressive use of modern materials and shapes, extraordinary lighting and furnishing concepts as well as intelligent building technology by Gira. The smart house control can be operated from the sofa or when you are away from home. Automatic functions make daily living easier, take over routine tasks, ensure safety and security and help save energy.
