In cooperation with Vitra Design Museum and the Centre Georges Pompidou, CIRECA has been putting on an international summer academy at Domaine de Boisbuchet since 1996.

Goal of this workshop (by EM2N, Zurich) was backing when we (me and other people from all around the world) were children and building up a tree house.

The first step was to find the right tree, it had to be big, with a lot of branches that could hug our house. Then we started to knot and weave ropes and bamboo’s strips to create the house’s structure. And finally we put bamboo’s leaves in the texture’s structure – the skin of our house- like the skin of an human body with its bones under of it, the permeability effect increase this sense, the structure is tangible and you can see it, but you can’t touch it if you are not inside!

The form is like a snake that hugs the tree from down to up incorporating the stair, that is planned like the ones in a boat with alternated steps, to increase the sense of play.
