The idea for Muum Maam is to create a hidden sanctuary for diners to experience authentic Thai street food by day in a casual environment and a traditional cuisine at night in a relaxed environment. One of the main inspiration for the design is incorporating the traditional Thai Teak houses with the urban surrounding of Sydney harbour as well as paying homage to the industrial history of Barangaroo. Consisting of contrasting horizontal and vertical panels with decorative patterns, these elements are used to create depth and texture for the store front.

Materials such as green scaled tiles, polished concrete and aluminium mesh are also used to compliments the teak timber feature.
