A new year celebration presumes the giving of gifts, while an exhibition presumes the display of artworks. The BIG MAMM acts as a giant gift giver, which gives away parts of itself in return for a toy made by hand at the exhibition. The giant mechanism, stretching the entire height of the museum’s atrium, is filled with rope conveyor belts full of white balloons. The installation gradually transforms from a snow white cloud to a festive garland such as one hung around a Christmas tree.
