The MoMA Design Store, located across the street from The Museum of Modern Art, will reopen with a light and airy new look showcasing the best of contemporary and modern design.

Lumsden Design designed the new store with Gensler serving as the executive architect. The two firms worked closely with MoMA to create a refreshed look for the iconic store that enhances the Design Store’s role in celebrating the Museum’s mission of making great design accessible to everyone.

The renovation increases the natural light highlighting several custom design elements. Products from tabletop, kitchen, lighting, tech and personal accessories are showcased in a bespoke merchandising system. A custom jewelry counter enhances viewing of the collection, which includes several new designs for the opening. Improvements in the store are beautiful yet practical resulting in better circulation and curated product offerings. An iPad-based sales system allows for a personalized shopping experience.
