Strolling along this quiet street it is easy to miss. Few know that this terraced house served as an eyesore for almost 30 years – until now. A makeover guided by Marmur Studio transformed it from a thing of blight to a harmonious and welcoming home.
Slowly built between 1984–1989, the house was never finished. The years passed by until 2011, when construction was resumed including a complete redesign of the interior. We feel the effects speak for themselves. Polished and refined yet inconspicuous and balanced with its surroundings. Upon taking a closer look, one can see the enlarged yet slim windows and niched entrance. On the inside, the staggered floor design and room arrangement was preserved, creating an atypical double split-level home. The bottom ground floor (garage level) houses a large dining room that is connected by a few steps with the living room and kitchen. The first floor is also split, in which each landing has its own bedroom and bathroom. Tying in this split design from the outside is a two-level garden terrace that also connects the dining and living rooms together. The interior was designed to be raw but highlighted with rich accents throughout. This was done to provide an original yet cozy ambiance while at the same time minimizing cost and outlay.
