The main idea behind the concept design, was based on the objective of the program to create a building complex comprised of two independent building modules of unique character. One to be used for teaching and lectures and the other one to house science labs.

The identity of the buildings encourages and promotes research conditions, teaching, learning and working.

The “horseshoe” form of the buildings is an organic continuation of the adjacent building, creating both open and closed spaces, from North to South. Additionally, it  creates continuous fronts, offering direct natural lighting and ventilation.

Interiorly, each floor has a large lobby area which acts as a vertical connection point to the other levels and has open views to the campus.

Different colors are used on each level, that can also be seen from the exterior to facilitate circulation of the users within the structure.

The outdoor space isn’t just a result of the remaining “free” space left from the building structures, but it acts as an organic binding component, that integrates both the outdoor areas of the proposal and the elements of the surrounding environment.
