Notre-Dames des Anges was built in 1870 regarding to be a retirement house held by the les Filles de la Sagesse, congregation founded the February 2, 1703 by St. Louis Marie Grignon de Montfort.


In September 1871, the free school of young girls opens its doors. A few months later an authorization was granted for a boarding school.


The construction of the current chapel began in 1883 and lasted 5 years. It was completed and blessed by Bishop Lecoq in 1888.


In 1896, 2 classes were built for the free school which welcomes 300 students divides up between the boarding school and the parochial classes.


In December 1912 an order of closing concerning the family house requires the students to withdraw from school.
During the terrible floods of 1910-1911, the nuns receive twice daily 600 disaster victims who come get "their portion".


From 1914 to 1919, the House took in refugees, and then a military office was installed in Notre-Dame des Anges. The school reopens in 1919 and the classes start again normally.


On 28 August 1939, a stationing of Breton and Vendee soldiers occupies the classes. Following an order from the Ministry in June 1940 classes are closed, the premises are requisitioned for the refugees. The classes will resume in January 1945 up to 1962 time of the final closure of the secondary school.


From 1974, the big house of Notre-Dame des Anges becomes "Welcome House" to the service of the diocese.
