A books house | Andrea Capurro

Site - The flat is part of a late ‘50 building, located in second row of one of the main roads in Sanremo. Built mainly with the purpose of being used as seaside flat  for inland professionals the whole building is tiny, well finished and directly connected to the coast through an easy pedestrian path. Flats are mainly composed with this elements: room-kitchenette-bathroom-living room-balconies. 

Task - The flat was to be completely re-newed and re-conceived for contemporary living.

Design - Kitchen and bathroom are completely tailor-suited on the Clients requests, with the extension of the dining area on the glazed veranda and the creation of back-to-back niches to host shower, fridge and cupboard. A small studio is formed in direct connection to the living room and the opening above the desk allows the sea view from the kitchen. 

Materials - Varnished sheet iron, whitened Bamboo and moroccan Zellij are used for shelves, flooring and sidings. Glazed areas are maximized through complete frame re-design. Energy efficient pvc windows will garantee a Thermal Resistance of 0.75 mqK/W, the new heating system will provide the thermal balance in winter time while installing a cooling system is avoided using cross ventilation for summer time cooling.
