Beautiful renovated 16th century masseria just outside of Lecce

- Set in sixty hectares of Olive groves

- Nine individually-designed suites with private courtyards and outdoor bathtubs

- Ten minutes’ drive to the coast and the baroque town of Lecce

Puglia’s most anticipated new boutique gem Masseria Trapana will open its doors on March 24th, offering guests a luxury escape just outside of Lecce. Owner Rob Potter-Sanders has spent the last two years painstakingly renovating the 16th Century property, resulting in the creation of the authentic luxury bolthole built in local Tufo and Piertra Leccese stone.

Each of the nine light-filled suites have been individually designed incorporating many original features uncovered during the renovation including authentic fireplaces, vaulted ceilings, frescoes and original cattle feeding troughs. Taking inspiration from Rob’s travels to Thailand and Bali, many of the suites will have their own outdoor bathtub and private courtyard and some with external showers, complete with luxurious Aesop toiletries. All soft furnishings have been meticulously handpicked from all over the world, from the vibrant Moroccan cushions that adorn the sunken seating area in the garden to the custom, handmade iron beds in each of the nine suites.

Guests will be able to relax by the large pool with oversized sunbeds or grab a hammock in a shady corner of one of the six tranquil gardens, brimming with nineteen variations of fruit and nut trees including orange, lemon, pomegranate, walnut, plum and mandarin.

To make the most of the property’s close proximity to the Adriatic coast, Masseria Trapana has partnered with a number of the region’s most stylish beach clubs including Bacino Grande, Mora Mora and Lido Punta Della Suina where guests will be able to while away the hours by the sea enjoying the views and some delicious local seafood. Transfers to the beach clubs can also be arranged with the hotel.

Resident Chef Maria Carla will delight guests with her delicious ‘Cucina Povera’ the food Puglia is famous for incorporating the fresh homegrown produce from the gardens and the region. For those wishing to try their own hand at the regional cuisine, cookery classes will be introduced later this year in the masseria’s large open plan kitchen.

During the summer, Masseria Trapana will also be launching Hatha Yoga sessions and in-room massage and reflexology.

OPENED ON 24TH MARCH 2016
