Villa "La Petite Sereine" is immersed in the spectacular landscape of Pointe Milou, St. Barth, in the French West Indies.
Surrounded by tropical vegetation and by the dark rocky mountain behind, the villa is built on two levels, overlooking to the white sands of the Caribbean Sea.
The main features of the project are the symmetrical plan, the happy relationship between internal and external spaces, combined with a light Tuscan travertine floor (open pore) which, together with the large sliding windows, makes it a unique seamless space.
Of particular interest is the chromatic contrast created by the same light travertine with the dark slate that could be find both in the garden stairs and retaining walls as well as in the rear area where the BBQ and pond/sculpture are located. Furthermore also the Lava stone (Safel) covers both pools, including the infinity at the top level.
The design of the interior has been fulfilled in close collaboration with the designer Marcel Wolterinck who gave particular attention also to the garden by the creation of pleasant and usable terraces linked by discrete slate stairs.
Most of the furniture are custom made as the outdoor dining table “Il Pezzo 6” (Il Pezzo Mancante, Florence), the Cocktail cabinet (Marcel Wolterinck)and the living room onyx table designed by Arch. Paola Tueta (Ortelli Architetti).

Villa "La Petite Sereine" è immersa nello spettacolare paesaggio di Pointe Milou, St. Barth, nelle Antille francesi.
Circondata da una vegetazione tropicale e dalla scura montagna rocciosa sul retro, la villa è costruita su due livelli, si affaccia sulle sabbie bianche del Mar dei Caraibi.
Le caratteristiche principali del progetto sono la pianta simmetrica, il felice rapporto tra spazi interni ed esterni, in combinazione con un pavimento chiaro di travertino toscano a poro aperto che, insieme con le ampie finestre scorrevoli, rende uno spazio senza soluzione di continuità.
Di particolare interesse è il contrasto cromatico creato dallo stesso travertino chiaro con l'ardesia scura che è stata utilizzata sia nelle scale del giardino che nei muri di contenimento, nonché nella zona posteriore, dove si trovano il barbecue e la fontana/scultura. Inoltre entrambe le piscine, delle quali una a sfioro, sono rivestite in pietra lavica (Safel).
Il design degli interni è stato realizzato in stretta collaborazione con il designer Marcel Wolterinck che ha dato particolare attenzione al giardino con la creazione di piacevoli e fruibili terrazze collegate da discrete scale in ardesia.
La maggior parte dei mobili sono pezzi unici realizzati su misura come il tavolo da pranzo all'aperto "Il Pezzo 6" (Il Pezzo Mancante, Firenze), i due mobili Cocktail (Marcel Wolterinck) e il tavolo in onice del soggiorno disegnato dall'Arch. Paola Tueta (Ortelli Architetti).
