Starfish Oyster Bar | Area-17 Architecture & Interiors
Beijing / China / 2011
Starfish Oyster Bar is a rare pearl in the wide sea of Beijing restaurants, offering a menu dedicated to serving seafood of a superior calibre. Area-17’s design aimed to give a voice to the main themes that inspired the owners: the ocean and the excellence of its products. The inside of the restaurant recalls a boat’s interiors, from the curved ceiling to the dark wooden furnishings. Large, transparent fish tanks containing oysters heighten the feeling of sailing through the ocean. On the other hand, fine materials and an extremely detailed design hint to the high quality of food. Starfish Oyster Bar can host up to thirty guests in the main room and provides a VIP room for private events. The sinuous six-meter-long bar counter offers the possibility of an informal dinner, without renouncing the magic atmosphere a true environment of old-fashioned charm.
