Close to the Riccione seafront, the Sixty Hotel brings its clientele into the colorful world of the ‘70s. Psychedelic atmosphere, original vintage furnishings, and environments signed by twenty-five international artists make this hotel truly one of a kind. The scheme began with the architectural renovation of a dull building from the ‘50s, then completely refurbished and arrayed in the quintessential Pop style of the Sixty group, which eventually became a city icon. The project is a good example of how important quality design can be in order to improve urban regeneration. Sixty Hotel also set an example concerning the use of technology to enhance communication, among guests and between the building and the city. Inside, rooms and common spaces are provided with a webcam that encourage people to communicate with each other, creating a community friendly environment. Outside, the façade is cut with giant circular holes, which allows it to become a wide screen for outdoor projections. The Sixty Hotel’s design was developed by Federico Gigetti in collaboration with Studio63 (Studio 63 Architecture + Design copyrights).
