Within an estate of about one hundred and thirty  hectares and , in the countryside of Manduria, rises the sixteenth century Masseria Potenti,originally belonging to the rich and powerful family of the Imperiali. It is located in a smooth landscapes which gently declines towards the enchanting Mar Jonio, among endless extensions of olives trees, vineyard and Mediterranean thicket.
With the rigorous respect of the antique architecture, the masseria - a large type of Italian farm - has today become an uncommon agritourism which unites its strong agricultural identity with a refined hospitality.

A day at the Masseria Potenti

Whatever your choice, the entirety of the day will be characterised by the slow rhythm of the countryside.
The morning starts with an abundant breakfast, the jams will naturally be the ones that you yourself have seen prepared from our fruit, as will be the confectioneries and the typical "ciambella" cakes, just taken from the oven, prepared with the henhouse eggs and our wheat.
For lunch, one can ask for a basket with our local " friselle”- seasoned with the sweet tomatoes of the vegetable garden and a savoury fruity oil- as well as fresh fruit of the season and local cheese. Once back from the sea one can rest in the fresh and shady gardens, away from the heat.
In the hottest hours of the day the lifestyle becomes more relaxed and the only sound that can be heard is that of the "cicale", which eases rest. Later, the life of the masseria slowly restarts. Where the sun sets, the guests come back from from the trips to find the real atmosphere of the masseria: the poignant, crimson sunsets which are reflected on the white walls give a magic lighting to the buildings. In this mystic moment which induces meditation, the only frenetic activity takes place behind the vest windows of the kitchen, from where one can smell the good smells and aromas of the Mediterranean cuisine. This great silence is suddenly broken by the sound of tambourines. Now, with the first cool breeze of the evening, the lessons of "pizzica" and "tarantella" begin, and soon even the laziest will be contaminated with the awakening rhythm.  Everyone dances with deep enjoyment, and those who are tired after an intense day and prefer to rest will nevertheless take delight in a fascinating performance.
The dinner is served: the guests sit around the long tables, soon becoming a single group, where common interests are discovered and advice on the various excursions shared. The buffet allows the freedom of eating as much as wished and the various dishes will satisfied all tastes. All recipes will share the careful choice of fresh ingredients, which will have been grown on our land or nearby. They will be prepared following ancient customs, in a sacred tradition of hospitality

La Masseria Potenti è il frutto di un progetto familiare, realizzata integralmente da Maria Grazia Di Lauro e Paolo Tommasino, senza l'aiuto di alcun architetto, ma secondo gusto personale e cercando di discostarsi il meno possibile dall'originale struttura.

A 2 km da Manduria, con un’ estensione di circa 150 Ettari la Masseria Potenti è oggi struttura ricettiva e azienda agricola, produttrice di olio extra vergine e vino (primitivo, fiano, rosè).

I materiali sono tutti locali, tufo bianco, mattonelle antiche e chianche si ritrovano in tutti gli alloggi.
Basta varcare la porta dell’entrata principale per fare un viaggio a ritroso nel tempo. Qui il tempo sembra essersi fermato all’ombra di foreste di fichi d’india e di ulivi secolari. La luce è bianca, calda, diffusa, rincuorante e penetrante quasi volesse avvolgere il visitatore e accompagnarlo nel suo viaggio. L’aria profuma d’arancio e il silenzio e il vento le fanno da padroni assieme alla natura selvaggia che degrada verso il mare. Un mare limpidissimo e cristallino, lo Jonio, circondato da dune sabbiose ricoperte di timo e rosmarino selvatico.

Risalente al 1200, oggi la Masseria Potenti, ribattezzata dalla gente del luogo la Masseria delle donne è la realizzazione di un sogno familiare, un’isola felice dove la proprietaria Maria Grazia Di Lauro con il suo affiatatissimo team di sole donne, gestisce la Masseria.

Maria Grazia, manduriana d’origine e milanese d’adozione, dieci anni fa, realizza il suo sogno di tornare nella sua terra di origine e creare un luogo dove accompagnare i suoi ospiti in un viaggio extrasensoriale, fatto di umanità, di cibo, sapori, profumi e odori della sua amata terra. Per questo mette da parte la sua laurea in legge ed una pur amata vita milanese, dedicandosi anima e corpo al suo progetto. La Masseria Potenti offre ai suoi ospiti la possibilità di conoscere una puglia autentica, non solo perché l’ospite è accolto da un luogo che è stato concepito nel rispetto della sua storia, con cura attenta dei materiali e cercando di recuperare tutti i suoi spazi originari, ma anche perché conserva un ambiente familiare, unico, fatto di ospitalità, di anima e storie legate alla forte personalità della proprietaria. Maria Grazia, che è dietro ad ogni più piccolo dettaglio: dalla scelta dei fiori sulla tavola alla selezione delle lenzuola, ricavate dagli antichi tessuti di corredo al telaio, alle soffici torte sfornate ogni mattina e pronte per essere servite a colazione.

Tufo bianco, calce, muretti a secco, vecchie cementine e natura incontaminata faranno il resto: lasciando che il visitatore si perda nella natura selvaggia di Puglia.

L'arredo è vocato all'estrema cura del particolare, con oggetti accumulati nel tempo tra Milano e la Francia insieme a tutti quelli antichi di famiglia.
Originariamente l'idea dei proprietari, entrambi manduriani d'origine, ma da circa 30 anni residenti a Milano, era quello di creare un posto, aperto agli amici dove riposarsi una volta in pensione. Ma già a partire dalla prima estate, non c'era più spazio per gli amici degli amici ed è così che tutto è cominciato.

Un jour à la Masseria Potenti:

La matinée débute avec un petit déjeunerabondant : les confitures, naturellement préparées à base de nos propres fruits, et dont vous avez pu découvrir la confection dans notre atelier-cuisine ; ainsi que les gâteaux ou les savarins, à peine sortis du four, cuisinés avec les œufs de notre poulailler et notre blé. Au coucher du soleil, les hôtes, de retour de leur excursion, retrouveront l’atmosphère unique de la masseria. Les couchers du soleil enflammés, fascinants, se réfléchissent sur les murs de chaux blancs, offrant une lumière magique aux bâtiments. A ce moment mystique, qui appelle à la méditation, la seule activité frénétique se devine derrière les larges fenêtres de la cuisine, d'où les odeurs et les arômes de la cuisine méditerranéenne s’échappent. Le dîner: votre dîner vous est servi autour des grandes tables. Les hôtes prennent place, devenant bientôt partie d'un seul groupe, se découvrant des intérêts communs, échangeant sur les excursions faites ou à faire. Le repas, sous forme de buffet, permet à chacun de se servir à son goût, la variété des plats offrant la possibilité de choisir selon ses propres désirs. Mais tous les mets ont en commun le soin rigoureux et attentif qui préside à leur confection, autant dans le choix des produits frais et de saison, provenant évidemment de notre terre ou, à tout le moins, étroitement liés à la région, et préparés selon d’anciennes recettes, dans le respect d'une hospitalité sacrée et ancienne.
