Since commercial spaces have become a consistent presence in daily routine, Area-17 commitment is inventing innovative solutions that anticipate customers’ expectations. In this spirit, Area-17 and INRES designed Moving Mall, a dynamic and flexible space meant to host temporary sales and events at Sesto Fiorentino Shopping Mall, Florence. Moving Mall is conceived as a city square, its boundaries virtually defined by cement flooring and a suspended ceiling featuring wide circular wholes through which colored light falls down. Temporary activities happen inside glass cubicles, whose transparency effectively guarantees the visibility of messages and products. The commercial modules can be easily moved around throughout the space therefore creating various spatial configurations. As a consequence, event areas and relaxation areas are arranged according to changing schemes in endless combinations.
