Completing The Capitol Chandigarh / India / 2015
Team: Arch. M. Oddo + Eng. A. Barracco + Arch. S. Lo Giudice + Arch. M. Giarratano + Dr. Yasmine Khademi
This project has been selected at the TOP 50 from the Archasm (organizer of this international competition), which asked to the participants to explore the unbuilt elements of LE CORBUSIER that had existed only in the form of documents and archives, and conceive an idea for the Corbusean dream of "MUSEUM OF KNOWLEDGE" in the Capitol Complex in Chandigarh.
New connection of the extended indian surface, destined to mark the connection between the present and the future, the new Museum of Knowledge, respects the natural environment of the surrounding and the artificial landscape architecturally built by Le Corbusier. The project intended as an architectural experimentation according to the fundamental principle of the methodology as practiced by Le Corbusier for the monumental works of the famous Indian Capitol.
The compositional logic, then, is based on a dialogue between the existing elements and new settlement and it is perceived both by the play of pure volumes treated macroscopically in a monumental vision and a spatial dynamism that blends indoor and outdoor space.
