Le Cargo is situated on Macdonald Boulevard in the 19th district of Paris, and fits into the overall plan for the conversion of the Macdonald warehouse, built in the 1960s. Designed by architect Odile Decq using an unique architectural approach, Le Cargo is the biggest incubator in Europe, an office building dedicated to supporting young startups in the tech and creative industry. The structure creates “a break with the traditional office” by its use of round openings, a central patio, several outdoor terraces, many co-working spaces and meeting rooms shaped as red bubbles visible from the street. Spanning a surface of 16 000 m², the incubator intends to offer the best services to stimulate interactions among startups.

More than a typical tertiary building, Le Cargo successfully responds to the memory requirements attached to the conversion of industrial heritage sites, all the while integrating innovation and environmental respect. Thanks to the originality of its organisation and functions, it exemplifies a contemporary approach responding to new modes of work, communication and moving.
