The facility is a model of manor house with a cut off tower. Its foundations might date back to the first half of the Sixteenth Century and, with other manors in the vicinity, it was part of a defensive barrier against the “running pirates” in the area of the Southern Salento.

It became the country dwelling for the Personé Barons who co-ordinated the agricultural business in the area. After World War II the government enacted the Land Reform and at the same time the Authority of the Land Reform established its agency department in the manor, until 1968.

After a careful recovery work, the “Masseria Spartivento” is today an accommodation facility surrounded by nature: an example of the typical country architecture that promises a totally relaxing vacation.
