Sant Jordi Rock Palace was born in the heart of Barcelona's Eixample and its theme is a tribute to Rock.
This time the group Sant Jordi is installed in a modernist palace of the early twentieth century.
The building structure is between dividing’s, with facades to the street and a spacious and peaceful courtyard.
Inside, there is a representative noble plant that has survived the years and uses, as well as a catalog of murals, marquetry, woodwork, crafted ceilings, cornices, mosaics and stained glass windows belonging to the architectural and artistic trend of Barcelona, the ​​Modernism.
The project consisted of a careful recovery of these gems, plus an expansion of the building over three extra floors.
With a total area of 1,300m² and 154 vacancies, this functional and comfortable guest house, does not want to forget that its main added value is precisely to tell a story that guests can carry back in their backpack.

The theme:
In Rock Palace the theme revolves around musicians turned into legends and the clubs which saw their beginnings.
In each of the floors of the hostel, the places that welcomed these legends, where they made their fans vibrate and witnessed the countless stories that are part of the mythology of the Rock have been reinterpreted.
Those who enter the hostel will stroll through the landmarks of rock music, from Los Angeles and New York, via Athens, to San Francisco and Seattle. They will overfly Liverpool and Manchester and finish landing in Barcelona where the music, the Rock and the clubs still have loads to tell.

The functional program:
The hostel, with 1300m2 and 154 vacancies, is distributed over 7 floors. On the ground floor is the reception and the access to the basement where the living room, kitchen, dining room and a cozy courtyard are located.
The first floor is equipped with laundry equipment and has 3 bedrooms with bathroom and terrace.
The second floor, which was built as home of a bourgeois merchant family of the textile industry, is a marvelous Modernist floor. Later it became the headquarters of an insurance agency and lost its luster. After an arduous work of restoration and lighting it has recovered its yesteryear looks. A museum room that exhibits six electric guitars representative of that period of time and 3 bedrooms are located here.
Floors 3, 4 and 5 are distributed in rooms for 4, 8 and 10 people, with individual and shared bathrooms.
The rooftop, provided with a swimming pool and sunbathing area, has been designed with the collaboration of one of the most legendary clubs of Barcelona, ​​RAZZMATAZZ.

The lighting:
A reception provided with 3,500 watt RGB led lighting welcomes the visitors. The lighting glass system of ilux studio allows you to create different scenes according to the scheduled activity or time of the day.
The lighting of the Clubs, whether rooms or passageways, designed and manufactured by Trasluz, focuses particularly on the subject, mural or text to highlight and the atmosphere to create.
The luminaire is at the service of architecture. Thus, it is a technical lighting rather than a decorative one, and energy efficient.
The lighting is done entirely with LED system, so the more than 150 units of projectors, recessed lights, strips and wallwashers do not reach the 1,400 watts.

Sant Jordi Rock Palace nace en el corazón del barcelonés del Eixample y su temática quiere ser un homenaje al Rock.

Esta vez el grupo Sant Jordi se instala en un palacete modernista de principios de siglo veinte.
Su estructura es la de edificio entre medianeras, con fachadas a la calle y a un amplio y plácido patio de manzana.
En su interior, se encuentra una planta noble que ha sobrevivido a los años y a los usos, así como un catálogo de murales, marquetería, ebanistería, techos artesonados, cornisas, mosaicos y vidrieras plomadas propios de la corriente arquitectónica y artística más representativas de la ciudad de Barcelona, el Modernismo.
El proyecto consistía en una recuperación cuidadosa de todas estas joyas, además de la ampliación del edificio en tres plantas piso.
Con un total de 1.300m2 de superficie y 154 plazas, este hostal funcional y confortable, no quiere olvidar que su principal valor añadido es precisamente contar una historia que el huésped se pueda llevar en la mochila.

La temática
En el Rock Palace la historia va de músicos convertidos en leyenda y de los Clubes que los vieron nacer.

En cada una de las plantas del albergue, se han reinterpretado los rincones que acogieron a estas leyendas, donde hicieron vibrar a sus fans y que fueron testigos de las innumerables historias que forman parte de la mitología del Rock.
Quien se adentre en este albergue podrá dar un paseo por los lugares emblemáticos de la música rock, desde Los Ángeles y New York, pasando por Athens, a San Francisco y Seattle. Sobrevolará Liverpool y Manchester, para acabar aterrizando en Barcelona donde la música, el Rock y, sobretodo sus Clubes, aún nos tienen mucho que contar.

El programa funcional
El albergue, de 1300m2 y 154 plazas, está distribuido en 7 plantas. En planta 0 se encuentra la recepción y el acceso a la planta -1, donde se ubica la sala, la cocina, el comedor y un acogedor patio.

La planta 1 está dotada de los equipamientos de lavandería, y cuenta con 3 dormitorios con baño y terraza.
La planta 2 es una maravillosa planta modernista, que fue construida como vivienda de una familia burguesa de comerciantes de la industria del textil. Después se convirtió en la sede de una agencia de seguros y perdió su brillo. Ahora, tras un laborioso trabajo de restauración e iluminación luce como antaño. Aquí encontramos una sala museo que expone 6 guitarras eléctricas representativas de su época y 3 dormitorios.
Las plantas 3, 4 y 5 se distribuyen en habitaciones compartidas de 4, 8 y 10 personas, con baños individuales y compartidos.
La azotea, en cuyo diseño se ha contado con la colaboración de uno de los clubes míticos de Barcelona, RAZZMATAZZ, está provista de una piscina y una zona de solárium.

La iluminación
Una recepción de 3.500 watios de luz de led en RGB da la bienvenida al visitante. El sistema lighting glass de ilux estudio permite crear distintas escenas según la actividad programada o la hora del día.

La iluminación de los Clubes, ya sean salas o zonas de paso, diseñada y fabricada por Trasluz, se centra especialmente en el objeto, mural o texto a destacar y en la atmósfera que se quiere crear.
La luminaria se pone al servicio de la arquitectura y le cede el protagonismo. Así pues, se trata de una iluminación más técnica que decorativa, y que a la vez de estética, es energéticamente muy eficaz.

La iluminación se realiza completamente con sistema de LED, por lo que las más de 150 unidades entre proyectores, empotrables, tiras y bañadores de pared no llegan a los 1.400 watios.
