The PF single family house, the remodeling and rebuilding of an already existing edifice, lies half way along the ridge below the medieval castle of Pergine Valsugana and it is located in an ideal position, both as to the beautiful view on the valley it enjoys and the sun exposure, excellent all year around.
The main characteristics of the design and planning are the structure, the energy efficiency and the spatial inside-outside continuity.
The steel supporting structure of the enlargement is completely independent from the already existing edifice: through a Vierendel beam, the first floor is connected to the ceiling, thus allowing a totally pillar-free ground floor.
The edifice core is characterized by high energy performance elements: the outside walls are made up of prefabricated-preassembled wood with wooden fiber panel insulation, the larch casing and frames are low emission of heat. The whole-house systems use high efficiency ventilation. Radiant walls and floors are used for heating and cooling. Solar powered system provides hot water and domotic technology characterizes the electric system.
The widespread wood usage fosters the deep bound to the rural architecture of this region; the building is composed of two constructive levels: the inferior “heavy” one, and the superior “light” one, almost completely covered with listels. Here, the large glass embossed loggias, with the larch wood penetrating all the way into the building, onto the floor and the walls, create a strong interrelation between the indoor and the outdoor, between private space and the rural surrounding.

L’edificio unifamiliare PF, il rifacimento ed ampliamento di una costruzione esistente, si trova a metà del crinale, sotto il castello medievale di Pergine Valsugana ed occupa una posizione ideale sia per la bellissima vista sulla valle che per il soleggiamento, ottimale durante tutto l’anno.
I temi principali della progettazione sono la struttura, il risparmio energetico e la continuità spaziale interno-esterno.
La struttura portante dell’ampliamento, in acciaio, è del tutto autonoma dall’esistente: per mezzo di una trave Vierendel il piano primo è appeso al sottotetto, permettendo di avere una pianta completamente libera da pilastri.
L’involucro edilizio è caratterizzato da elementi ad alta prestazione energetica: le pareti esterne sono in prefabbricato-preassemblato di legno con isolamento in pannelli di fibra di legno, gli infissi in legno di larice sono basso emissivi. Gli impianti tecnologici sfruttano la ventilazione ad alto rendimento, il riscaldamento-raffrescamento degli ambienti avviene a pavimento e a parete, il solare termico fornisce acqua calda e la tecnologia domotica caratterizza l’impianto elettrico.
L’uso del legno si presta a creare un forte legame con l’architettura rurale di questa regione, l’edificio è costituito da due livelli costruttivi, il livello inferiore “pesante” e quello superiore “leggero”, coperto quasi totalmente da listelli. Qui, le grandi logge vetrate, a sbalzo, col legno di larice che si stende fin dentro l’abitazione, sui pavimenti e le pareti, creano una forte interrelazione tra l’interno e l’esterno dell’edificio, tra spazio privato e paesaggio rurale circostante.
