A young couple in Highland Park owned a small Craftsman bungalow which they had carefully restored. From Quaker roots and active members of the local contemporary art world, they wanted an on-site studio building in which each of them could pursue an individual art practice. (See Megan Whitmarsh and Dolphin Force)

The building's design carefully alternates select exterior moves referencing local context, such as color and overall shape, witha clean, barn-like interior, focusing particularly on natural air flow and exposed structural materials.
