Stone washbasin San Lazzaro di Savena / Italy / 2013
Designing a basic and essential bathroom component, which can be easily customised according to specific space and utility requirements. Optimising the waste materials and differentiating each body wellness area from the other through an ever-different joining of concrete slabs. The project cornerstone is the binding link between the stone and the water, which is reflected in the design and the wellness world.
The sink structure is made of travertine slabs with a thickness of 20 mm (for the sides and the bases), and with a minimum thickness for the sliding surface (12 mm). The drain has a travertine coverage too. The mechanism behind the sliding surface has been obtained from the millings on the sides of the structure.
The flat surface is adjustable in order to gain a wider space hold both in the inner and outer side of the sink.
