Residence in Niederkreuzstetten/NÖ
Low-energy-house with passivehouse technology
The house of the three-person family consists of a ground floor and an upper level with no basement. On the sloped side of the terrain, a room for building services and a storage room are provided. A double garage on the side of the street, together with the roofed entrance and an unheated shed/storage room, are attached to the north side of the main volume of the house. A wood facade covers this secondary building and unifies it optically with the one storey high parts of the building. This facade choice also structures the ensemble of shed and garages in combination with the double storey building.
On the west side of the land, a passage to the garden is made possible. The terrain slope on the terrace is resolved by a draft stone wall (1,7 to 2,1 meters high). On the neighbor's side however, the naturally sloped ground is preserved.
The thermal efficiency of the building is guaranteed by a heat recovery system of the exhust air which happens over a heat exchanger, transferring the heat to the incoming air. The incoming fresh air is also preheated through an underground pipe system. A heatpump that supplies the ground heating, covers the remaining heat demand. A fireplace, dependent on the room air provides additional heat.
