The original layout of the apartment, located in an River view heights building, had very little scope for spatial modulation owing to the loaded programme, i.e. Master Bedroom, two Children's Bedrooms, a Study which could be converted into a Guest Bedroom and Kitchen along with Staff Room, One having en-suite bathrooms. Thus, a strategy was devised to establish a continuity of spaces by the careful positioning of doorways, which when open, creates a sense of overlap without comprising the privacy of the inhabitants. The long central spine, maintained as per the skeleton of the building, is augmented with two primary apertures, one, main entrance of the house and the other, a window opening to the TAPI RIVER, both of which can be experienced at a single moment. At various points along this spine the house opens upto its lateral edges establishing a free flow of light, ventilation and movement. The lightness and the flow of spaces is further enhanced by local materials, viz. laminates & duco for all joinery,Acralic for the Kitchen and white paint for walls and ceilings. The neutral tone of the space provided an appropriate canvas for a sizeable collection of artwork and use of furniture pieces of varied styles.
