Ever since the use of sand stone became inaccessible in the building of large spaces, places of worship started to suffer acoustically.
The beautifully built church of St. Gabriel at Aajaltoun was no exception. 21dB was appointed consultant for the project, with hopes of taming the 11 sec. reverberation time which was immensely hampering the communication inside the church. After the amount of absorption needed was set, it was the lead architect and 21dB’s job to find the best design. A design that will not hinder the esthetics of the space, but on the contrary enhance it.

Vicoustic’s wavewood was chosen to fill the spaces on the roof. 670 panels did the job in a such a way, that we can now enjoy a ceremony in the church from the last seat out back, without any kind of amplification.
