Among a few other firms, Nupera takes place in the historical Le Petit Champs appartment building located in Beyoglu, in the bohemian part of Istanbul facing a beautiful view of historical landmarks behind the Galata Bridge.  Nupera is an entertainment complex consisting of cafe, restaurant and bars.

We had designed Nupera several times since 2004.  Always the same client, but each time with a different theme, a different concept.  After a break we came together again to create something a bit controversial this time.  Something with less design apprehension...

We avoided 'more', creating only some shapes, surfaces for sitting, stepping and dancing on, using 'less' materials. We used simple, neutral and natural materials.

A block of concrete is designed and built for perching, just next to a strong spacious table top of concrete standing on iron profile legs, strong enough for dancing on and even stomping. Two levels of plywood surfaces is designed all around for the crowd to nestle for quick bites and then to hang out until late hours.

A final casual, street touch was added with the artist Efe Isildaksoy aka Rastarules's works.
