This duplex defies the rules of its environment and creates its coveted fourth façade. The house was planned for a couple with five children. Planning started from the shared wall with the neighbors as part of the “story” of the house. The existing fence between the neighbors was turned into a wall covered in dark brown bricks. The outer wall was turned into an inner wall, with a white kitchen cabinet lined across its length. The continuation of the wall turns into an outer wall again, covered in bricks, which acts as the side of a patio – This is the forth façade. The wall later “meets” the wall of the garden and turns into a “green wall”. The house is in dialogue with that wall, which blends and recedes repeatedly. The house’s entrance is at the center of the long façade in front of the patio. The stairs are located in the center and divide the spaces into private and shared areas according to the plans.
The house is designed in clean modern lines beginning with its outline, through the choice of materials and tones we’ve chosen, the carpentry which we’ve designed, the light fixtures and the choice of furniture.
