Bisma Eight is a part of the unique Ubud experience that helps people discover and define what Ubud means to them and to create singular moments that surprise and delight. Tropical Modern is a burgeoning travel movement and different approach to the way in which people relate to a place.

Bisma Eight was designed in collaboration with Arte Architect & Associates of Bali http://www.artearchitect.com/ , Indonesia and Fuur Associates http://www.fuur.com/ , Singapore. This project was led by famed Balinese architect in Ketut Arthana and Singaporean Interior Designer Jasper Chia. Pak Ketut is renowned for his work at some of the best hotels and resorts in Bali while Mr. Chia has worked on some of Singapore’s best boutique bars, restaurants and stores. Landscape design was conceptualized by SHL & Partners to create a jungle effect.

Raw Concrete Architecture
The building was designed as low monolithic structures marrying modern elements such as raw concrete, steel and glass with iconic Balinese elements. Beton Brut (French) or “Raw Concrete” material was chosen for it’s strength, functionality, and how well it’s appearance evolves over time when nature starts to mature around it. Our decision in using pre-cast concrete architecture is bold, progressive, and daring to do something different. Precast concrete is more comfortable, safe, healthy, durable, ecologically sound, sustainable and fully recyclable.

Rooms
Rooms are completed with rough wood salvaged from old Javanese homes. Floors are lined with southern walnut and copper strips throughout two sections in the living room. Beds were designed to act as both a headboard and a desk, mixing style and function and an ample amount of sockets are lined up throughout the rooms to ensure that guests are always connected.

All joinery such as closets are trimmed with traditional chicken eye anyaman motifs.

Lighting frames have been made from banana resin fibers and bed skirting out of the same jute from the bathroom.

The highlight of the room however, is a Japanese-inspired cedar soaking tub made by Snorkel Tubs, Seattle. The accompanying bath salts help cleanse the body and soothe the soul.

The Pool Pavilion:

At the Pool Pavilion, we feature Ubud's only temperature-controlled pool. Furniture and cabanas were designed with Brazilian furniture designer Zapp Design. There are also ample sockets with waterproof flaps allocated strategically close to the cabanas for easy access.

All the showers and taps are from Watermark company, New York City and we use chamfered white carrera marble top and set up a part Bali part Tiki vibe at the bar area through the use of local woods and weaves and ceramic mugs, glasses, bottles that are indicative of polynesian drinking culture.

Rooftops:

At the Rooftops, the edges are lined with planter troughs, potted plants to allow for passionfruit creepers to climb up the steel mesh and then (still waiting for the full thing to grow) to fall through the canopy area.
