Worship of rectangle! But levels in volumes are linked by arched elements (stairs). Intriguing?

The very process of designing this house was like a materialization of every architect's dream – a stunning land plot in pinewood park in the very best suburb of Vilnius, young ambitious and very demanding owners seeking for the best quality and extraordinarily high-end solid house for their family to live in. In these circumstances our task was clear, while the budget of the project gave us an opportunity to express ourselves, as well as to enrich our experiences as architects. The initial aim of the client was to have a strictly-shaped house, echoing a rectangular.

The chosen solution was to avail the beautiful land plot by including lots of glass framed in a concrete construction which was decorated with fine-polished stone exterior. These materials expressed solid forms of the house and melted into natural environment. Extremely spacious and light interior was softened to a cosy and yet inspiring place for living by linking different levels with an arched stairs as well as invoking a warm oak wood to carefully contrast white/glass/steel elements. The form of the stairs became a contrast with the main rectangular form. And certainly - all the details were discussed thoroughly and thought of from a variety of angles. Natural interior materials such as polished concrete, dark painted wood – also played the main role by being the part of the nature.

The ground floor is dedicated for the main living area, leisure and garage. Tree zones have their own rectangular shape.  As all bedrooms are on the first floor this zone becomes more private. The master bedroom is quite spacious and light. The same interior rules are here. Natural colours, materials and plastic shapes helps to keep the same sense of aesthetics in the whole house.
