Megeve Chalet was a refurbishment project for a family house in the Alps, 45 minutes drive time from Geneva, which needed light internal refurbishment and redecoration. The interior colour palette was focused mainly on natural materials, textures and fabrics. All the soft furnishings were bespoke and exclusively designed for each room. The brief was to create a cosy but elegant interior.

The project focused heavily on furniture sourcing and designing custom bedlinens, curtains and other soft furnishings. Bespoke double bed for kids room was custom designed and built on site to match the wooden finish of the Chalet walls. Wool and linen Italian and British fabrics were mounted on feature walls of the bedrooms to break up the feeling of the wooden box.

In addition to the Chalet refurbishment we also worked on the interior design for a small Mazot. Mazot is a small wooden farmhouse usually with one bedroom, one bathroom and some storage space located near the main Chalet. Mazots were used as a pied-à-terre (small house for an occasional use) during farmers’ stay in the vineyards. Those timber houses were usually built using solid wood timbers that were crafted, jointed and interlocked without any nails.

This particular Mazot was relocated from its original location to Megeve, where it was rebuilt and redecorated to play a role of a cosy Guest house. A palette of neutral and natural colours is to be found throughout both houses. The Mazot bathroom’s walls in the wet areas were finished with grey tadelakt, which was brought to this Chalet interior and mixed with the roughness of the wood. Custom made wooden basin unit with a dark grey local stone sink added a significant amount of bathroom storage, as well as a touch of rustic elegancy
