Saccharum Hotel Resort & SPA

With extraordinary natural surroundings, the Saccharum Hotel is a tribute to the history of the culture of sugarcane and honey and brandy production, some of the most important local products for the Island economy. Thus, where once existed a traditional honey and brandy production manufacture, Nini Andrade Silva designed an hotel that pays homage to this universe, where the unique design gives to the space excellence and greatness of one more unique hotel!

The interior design concept developed to the space took shape from the territorial context in which the Hotel is implanted. With the main concern of creating impact, the interiors of the Saccharum's Spa was designed to overcome the source of inspiration and life itself. We intend to emphasize the beauty of the surrounding nature through a chromatic palette, aesthetic solutions and design that enhance a journey through historical, cultural and natural heritage of Madeira, with a clear emphasis on the importance of the sugar cane crop.

The space planning was designed in a very organic layout with the intention of giving humanity and versatility to the space, highlighted by the organic nature of the sugar-canes and curvilinear forms of materials. In allusion to the traditional sugarcane factories, the inside of the Spa is in brown brick, with stained concrete floor with color brands reminding honey. Throughout the space we find giant photographs in reference to the world of sugarcane and honey  production, conveying realism and drama of the immense beauty of sugarcane. In this Spa, all treatments are made by honey base and the indoor pool was designed as if it were a honey tank, in shades of brown and honey/gold.we defined different visual games that balance the building design itself with the voluptuousness of the interior. We selected lush materials that, in turn, find the counterpoint into challenging solutions, as fiber glass and wood.

The colors of sugar-cane and dry green tones with notes of wood, provide the necessary comfort to a minimalist interior design. In addition to colors and finishes such us wood, metal and stone, we introduce elegant and exclusive design pieces of furniture incorporating artwork commissioned specifically for the project.
