These felt carpets are made with an handloom technique by the plaiting of one or more strips and threads. It is a kind of flat weave on a cotton base, resulting in a very firm and compact structure. This technique is inspired by traditional methods of weaving vegetable fibres which have always been used to produce baskets, curtains and other traditional objects. Both the weft and the warp – clearly visible in the finished product – have been magnified by using strips of felt woven onto a cotton base. The outcome is an absolutely contemporary carpet, made up of two dimensional patterns given by the thickness of the felt strips, the plaiting technique and the colour combinations.
