Campos approached Luchetti Krelle to create a new and identifiable style for their cafes. The brief was for a fresh, clean feel that was ordered and without fuss.

To re‐enforce order within a busy cafe environment the front counter was panelled timber using a strong geometric pattern. The timber was stained in various contrasting colours that were later used as accents throughout the space on ceilings and walls. Campos’ famous olive green was applied to the base of the main counter, diversions of this colour were then used as highlights on loose furniture and upholstery.

Geometry was playfully extended throughout the cafe with a series of steel rondo arches strategically placed to break up the long rectangular space without blocking out areas. These units also assisted in shelving and placement of cold drip filter units and terracotta planter pots.

With a restricted budget, the overall result relied heavily on materiality and colouring. The controlled palette accented the commercial colour of Campos but also created a calm environment in what is now a very busy and much loved cafe.
