Al Abdali Gate

The project 'Al Abdali Gate' is located in the new district of Abdali, in the heart of Amman, the Jordanian capital. This complex includes a program of luxury housing and hotel by Campbell Gray Group distributed in two towers of about 80 m high with low buildings ("podiums"), intended to accommodate shops and apartments. The two towers bow one towards the other to mark the gateway of district developed along one of the main axes of the city, "the Boulevard". T

he envelope of the Tower consists of a glass façade made using a system of blocks of 1.5 m 3, 5 m. Each façade module is equipped with double glazing units which may be totally glass or translucent.The translucent modules have been created especially for the project. Double glazing incorporates a thin layer of marble (Statuario venato) of 3 mm which is laminated between two low iron glass panes. A random distribution of transparent and glass/marble panels creates the typical pixelation on the façade. East of the Tower facades are fully glazed and have horizontal brise-soleil in anodized aluminum. The shading system turns on the roof to create a canopy to protect the public spaces on the terrace of the two buildings.

The facades of the dwellings mainly consist of fixed light or sliding doors giving access to the balconies and loggias. A series of large panels of marble/glass are positioned on the balcony and it slides to shade a part of the building.

The facades of the ground floor are dedicated to the shops and are characterized by their exceptional transparency achieved by large glazed volumes supported by glazed stiffeners which measure about 8 meters in one piece. The glass panels are kept on the glass fins in glass using a system of invisible mounting placed in the interlayer glazing and screwed on an aluminium profile structurally glued on the edge of each stiffener (toggle system).
