Part of a medieval convent, these premises were cut apart in such way that only one room had direct view to the external. So we decided to treat it like a loft, by opening a huge window on the small terrace thus providing all the apartment with natural light.

The major challenge was to clean up and completely redesign the apartment layout, removing partitions stratified  in centuries and carving away the masonry in order to reveal the original elements, ceilings and walls defining the house volumes in all its original height.

The layout is based on the will to optimize every cm of the space;  sitting area, dining, kitchen, studio, bedroom, wardrobe, laundry and  2 bathroom, are all perfectly tailored inside the 100 m2.

The kitchen, with its pure stainless steel volumes,  and the dining room are the heart of the house; the owner want to have a big space where could cook and entertain with friends in an informal way.

As we usually do when working on any project, here we wanted to marry our modern style with the ancient flavor of the original house; acting with respect for the past, but at the same time taking distance in terms of language.
