California Maritime Academy, Public Safety and EOC | STRATAap

The principals of STRATA a|p have worked with the CSU Maritime Academy for more than ten years in a variety of capacities from architects, programmers and planners, and construction managers. Our most recent project is the new ground up modular Police Facility Building and Emergency Operations Center (EOC).

The 3,456 square-foot Campus Police Facility Building and Emergency Operations Center is designed to meet their growning needs and provide a permanent location for the police department. The building is sited at the main campus entrance and includes a new gate design reinforcing the formal entrance to campus. Due to budgetary constraints, STRATA a|p has designed the Essential Services Facility, including police station, emergency operation center (EOC), public waiting and reception, offices, interview rooms, evidence processing and locker rooms, using modular building construction. In order to accommodate all the programmatic needs within the modular footprint it was necessary to develop an extremely efficient building plan that also provided the necessary separation of public access from police activities.

The building is based on 4.7, 12’x60’ modular buildings placed on a concrete foundation. In order to give the building a more permanent appearance and integrate it with other building materials seen on the campus, a site adapt strategy was developed.  In this strategy, brick and profiled wall panel systems will be installed on the exterior of the building performing in conjunction with site specific work such as foundation, utilities, entry canopy, etc.
