The interior design of this new highrise apartment is a product of the preferences of its owners, a young married couple — he was going for a contemporary design, while she insisted on classics. In the end, they managed to meet somewhere halfway. The concept of the interior is based on the principal classic elements of boiserie paneling, decorative moldings, columns and halfcolumns. Another tribute to this style was a generous use of marble, a decorative material of choice for the toilet and bathroom, the latter dominated by a bathtub carved from a solid piece of marble. The classic style is also represented by a restored antique chestofdraws, painted black and lacquered, and a vintage herringbone pattern of the parquet flooring. That’s where the classic design ends. The rest of the objects are purely minimalist with bright accents of iconic creations of contemporary design, like Tom Dixon lights and a Poliform sofa. A crudelooking concrete ceiling — a joint project by Sergiy Makhno and Faktura.UA — completes the image of an informal tandem of classic and contemporary styles.
