DREIMETA’s interior concept embodies the core value of Picnic: “made with love.“ The complete renovation of the building and corresponding transformation into a specialized “all day“ eatery and bar is now complete. Located on the Maximilianstraße, Augsburg’s popular downtown boulevard, Picnic now welcomes guests to explore both levels of the interior. The large operable windows - which completely open up the façade- provide glimpses of the interior and offer generous sightlines to the square and busy street beyond. The spiral stairs from the original 1950’s-built structure no longer met current building standards in its original form, but by adding a steel mesh frame as an additional safety measure, the staircase was able to remain a part of the design. In a nod to the famous “Pont des Arts” bridge in Paris, guests are encouraged to add their own “love locks” to the stairs’ layered enclosure, therefore strengthening the connection of the mesh panels and echoing the credo: “made with love.” 

The bar area of the upstairs “bel étage” can also be converted to a private area, so that the space can be booked and closed off for small events, weddings, birthdays, etc. In total, PICNIC has a capacity of about 200 guests, with an additional 40 seats outdoors. A mixture of table sizes offers guests a variety of seating choices, or they can opt for the long wooden bench that runs along the length of the street-side windows.
