Drinking tea was never a part of a Brazilian culture but, recently, the globalization era and the search for a healthier lifestyle, has brought to the country an increasingly interest in the product. Talcha is a pioneer of what seems to be a new tendency, but it is also a result of years of intense studies from the owner, who travelled all around the world in search for a deep understanding of the habit in other countries.
The main goal for the design team was to create a contemporary way of looking to the traditional tea salons. At the same time, they wanted to use references from asian and brittish culture without looking like an artificial scenarium, to insert those elements without ignoring the context. Since the spot was inside a mall, the space also needed to have cozy mood in a rather aseptic environment, so to speak.
The space created has not more than 45sqm in a corner of the mall. Instead of confining it within glasses spans, the choice was to create a wooden lattice that opens entirely as folding panels. The profusion of light wood and the pendent lights designed by the swiss atelier oi in 2007, bring a certain Asian feeling, while double height shelve is a resonance of traditional British libraries.

Beber chá nunca foi parte de uma cultura brasileira, mas, recentemente, na era da globalização e da busca de uma vida saudável, entrou no país um interesse crescente pelo produto. Talchá é uma marca pioneira do que parece ser uma nova tendência, mas é também o resultado de anos de intensos estudos do dono, que viajou por todo o mundo em busca de uma compreensão profunda do hábito em outros países.
A intenção do projeto era criar um olhar contemporâneo sobre as tradicionais casas de chá. Ao mesmo tempo, desejava-se usar referências das culturas asiática e britânica sem parecer artificial, inserindo estes elementos sem ignorar o contexto. Por estar localizado em um shopping, o espaço precisava ter um clima aconchegante apesar do ambiente asséptico no qual está inserido.
Uma planta muito simples foi organizada ao redor de um balcão central. As paredes foram revestidas de prateleiras que mostram os produtos. Ao invés de confirmar o espaço dentro do vidro, o projeto criou um fechamento de madeira que se recolhe inteiramente como portas-camarão. A madeira clara foi usada em profusão para revestir os móveis, as paredes e o os painéis de fechamento. Uma alusão as casa de chá asiáticas. As prateleiras, que ocupam todo o pé-direito duplo do espaço, remetem às tradicionais bibliotecas britânicas.
