Scott St | bureau^proberts
Kangaroo Point / Australia
No 2 Scott Street provides a new direction for apartment living in Brisbane. The iconic, 18-storey residential building on the edge of the city comprises 17 apartments, and a ground floor pool and gym. The distinctive tower design is inspired by the natural elements of the nearby Kangaroo Point Cliffs while also respecting the site’s heritage values and the Kangaroo Point Peninsula Local Area Plan.
The unique eastern façade is softened with the use of planting growing within the perforated screen on the side of the tower — reinforcing the embedded graphic of the cliffs as well as providing protection and privacy for the residents. Off form concrete, stone and perforated metal with a fine patina, create a warm texture and a sense of connection with the surrounding environment. The design also provides areas that are shaded from direct sun — allowing residents to make the most of the sub-tropical climate — and offers flexibility in the use of major living spaces.
