Don Ferrante, or Ferdinando Loffredo, was a Neapolitan nobleman who enjoyed many titles; First Marquis of Trevico, Lord of San Sossio and Zingoli, Governor General of Bari and Otranto, Lord of Lecce and Dean of the Sacro Regio Consiglio.
When Don Ferrante became the Viceroy of Bari and Otranto new defensive city walls had just been built in Monopoli as well as parts of the castle, today known as Charles V Castle.
A little fortress was also built close on the southern side of the walls: this is the building where Don Ferrante lies today.

Description of the Hotel location

An ancient fortress on the reef, close to the sea,  in an enchanting atmosphere.

Located in the old town of Monopoli , the charming Don Ferrante hotel  boasts views of the Mediterranean Sea. The hotel  lies on top of a 15 km coastline of jagged rock with many coves and sandy beaches to enjoy and explore.
