Shield è un'arma di difesa, un guscio di tartaruga che ci protegge dagli oggetti stessi con cui siamo entrati in simbiosi.

In un mondo in cui ormai l'uomo è continuamente a contatto con la tecnologia ed è legato indissolubilmente al proprio cellulare, è necessario prendere alcune misure di tutela contro quelli che sono gli aspetti nocivi di questi apparecchi. Come molti sanno, i campi elettromagnetici emessi in particolare dal cellulare influiscono negativamente sulla nostra salute. Il consiglio è quello di tenerlo lontano almeno nei momenti in cui non è strettamente necessario utilizzarlo. Ma quanti di noi lo fanno? Shield si propone di rendere semplice tutto ciò perlomeno durante le ore notturne, permettendo di non allontanarsi troppo da quello che è quasi un prolungamento del nostro corpo. Si tratta di un comodino che integra un chip NFC in grado di spegnere l'antenna del telefono e quindi bloccare le onde da esso emesse. Il suo design dalle forme geometriche e spigolose guida l'esperienza dell'utente, che è indotto ad appoggiare il cellulare nell'apposito spazio angolare e inclinato. Abbiamo voluto privilegiare la gestualità: con un semplice movimento del braccio è possibile decidere se bloccare le radiazioni o tenere acceso il cellulare, spostandolo da una zona all'altra del comodino. Inoltre, per garantire tutte le funzionalità di cui abbiamo bisogno durante la notte, abbiamo previsto due prese USB integrate al mobile per la ricarica. Grazie all'user observation abbiamo deciso infine di dare una doppia possibilità di montaggio: con o senza gambe, in modo tale da poter trasformare il comodino in mensola e poterlo sfruttare anche negli ambienti meno spaziosi.

Shield is a defensive weapon, a turtle shell that protects us from objects we are related with.

In a world where man is constantly in touch with technology and inextricably linked to their mobile phones, we need to take some measures to protect our self from the dangerous aspects of those devices. As many of you know, the electromagnetic fields emitted from the mobiles have a negative effect on our health. They warn us to keep it away any time it is not strictly necessary. But how many of us really do it? Shield aims to make everything easier, at least at night. It is a table that includes an NFC chip. Those chip is able to turn off the phone's antenna and lock the waves emitted from your mobile. Our product, designed with geometric shapes, is based on the user experiences and guides you automatically to put your phone in the angular and inclined space. We wanted to give priority to our gestures: just moving your phone from one area to another of the table, you can decide to block the radiations or keep your phone turned on. Finally, to ensure all the functions we need during the night, we integrated into the table two USB ports for charging our phones. Lastly we decided to give a double option: with or without legs, so that in less spacious rooms, you can transform the table in a shelf.
