Karitaat Bridge | Wouter van Faassen
Pedestrian and Bicylce bridges for a recreational area. Delft / Netherlands / 2015
The Karitaat bridge is an important missing link in the network or recreational routes surrounding the city of Delft. The design tries to fit into the landscape while also being a place to sit, meet and be surprised by the exhibitions that are hidden in the railings. The project was awarded the only honerable mention: "The jury was impressed by the integration of this design in the bigger landscape context. This was the only entry that did not stop at the edges of the Karitaat but went beyond with another bridge and aquatic landscape design along the shore. The bridge itself is characterized by its quiet eloquence and friendly details. Beautiful parapets and carefully integrated benches."
